DEDICATION’S what you need if you want to be a record breaker, and a Wooburn Green School is pulling out all the stops next week to be just that.
Children and staff from The Meadows Primary School are calling for extra bodies to take part in what they hope will be the largest game of musical statues in history.
The record currently stands at 1069 people and is held by Danone in Finland, with ambitious Meadows pupils hoping they can attract 1100 people to their attempt at the school’s centenary fair on Saturday, June 29.
The fair, which celebrates the school’s 100th Anniversary, aims to raise as much money as possible for much-needed playground equipment.
Organisers hope their efforts to enter the Guinness Book of Records will be a full-scale community affair, and are welcoming as many local groups as possible to get involved.
So far local primary schools, Thames Valley Police cadets, Beaconsfield Fire Station, the Community Church, the local Beavers, Scouts and Cubs, The Club and Bucks New University Cheerleading squad The Swans have all signed up.
And Attorney General Dominic Grieve will use his considerable legal experience to make sure participants meet all the rules and guidelines set out by Guinness in his role as judge.
The fair, on Wooburn Green, features music, a bouncy castle, face painting, a hog roast and a Pimms tent, along with many more attraction for the whole family.
